Verify the official app

Apps may have similar names in the App Store. Compare the provider’s official website link, developer name and privacy information. Check our download page or contact support for JetVPN iPhone availability.

What the VPN permission means

A VPN app may ask iOS for permission to add a VPN configuration when you first connect. Only approve an app you trust when you started the setup yourself. An unexpected request from a website to install a profile is not the same as a trusted app’s VPN setup.

Finding iPhone VPN settings

Search for VPN in the Settings app. Installed configuration profiles appear under General > VPN & Device Management. On a work or school device, your organisation may control these settings; ask its administrator before removing a profile.

If the connection keeps dropping

Check internet access with the VPN off. Compare Wi-Fi with mobile data, update the app and check whether another VPN configuration is active. Hotel and airport networks may require completing a sign-in page first. Try these simpler steps before considering a network settings reset.

Read the connection indicators together

On iPhone, check the app and system settings rather than relying only on an icon in the top bar. Indicator placement can vary with the device and iOS version. A connected label also does not guarantee that every destination is reachable.

Try more than one website. If browsing works but a single app fails, look at that service's availability and access requirements. If everything fails, investigate the network and VPN configuration together. This distinction prevents unnecessary changes to settings that are already working.

Understand an unexpected profile request

Permission to add a VPN configuration and permission to install a broader device profile may have different implications. If a web page unexpectedly asks you to install a certificate or profile, verify the source before continuing. Trusting an unknown file is not a routine way to fix internet access.

A work or school profile may contain account, network and management settings together. Removing it can affect more than the VPN. Ask your organisation's support team before changing a managed configuration, even if an unrelated troubleshooting guide suggests deleting every profile.

Compare Wi-Fi with mobile data

If a VPN works at home but fails in a hotel, check whether the hotel's sign-in session is complete before reinstalling the app. Then try the same VPN location on mobile data. This comparison helps reveal a network-specific pattern without claiming to identify the exact cause.

Choose a short test outside an active call or file transfer, since switching networks can interrupt them. Note the time, network type and message shown. If the issue continues, those observations help support investigate the same conditions.

Location permissions are separate

A VPN can change the exit IP address for traffic in its tunnel. It does not automatically change iPhone location permissions, your account identity or an app's saved regional preferences. A map showing your real position therefore does not, by itself, demonstrate a VPN failure.

If your goal is to manage location access, review the relevant iOS privacy settings and the app's purpose. Make a deliberate permission choice rather than expecting a network connection to handle every privacy setting. Privacy and subscription checks

HTTPS and device updates still matter with a VPN. Before subscribing, read the renewal period, trial end date and cancellation method. Installing a VPN app does not, by itself, mean that you have bought a subscription or established a connection.
